Are you treating lead generation in your business like you would treat tickets to tonight's Game 7 of the World Series? You're probably thinking what one has to do with the other so let me explain.
You spend a huge amount of money, or given tickets (I'm here if you've got any available ) to Game 7 to watch the Astros defeat the Nationals. Whether it is for the experience, or the large amount of money you dropped, you're not going to let anything disrupt that time. You're not answering your phone. You're not checking email and responding. You're not planning 2020 goals in the seats during the game. You're locked in, and committed to rooting on your favorite team.
Why do so many not treat lead generation in their businesses the same way? Lead generation should be a business owner's Game 7 every single day. No disruptions for a period of time scheduled on your calendar and committed to generating the next piece of business. If you're consistent, you will crush your...
Stop thinking you've arrived!
I hear often from individuals that they have achieved everything, crushed their goals, and that they are content. As a business owner, this mind set now places you into the danger zone. Think Goose getting cooked in Top Gun. When you get to a place where you are comfortable, growth ends.
Think of a tree. A tree is either growing or decaying. There is no in-between state. Our businesses are similar in the fact that they are either in growth mode or dying. What are some strategies to stay in growth mode in your business?
As a business owner, and a coach of business owners, it is important to make sure your operating with counter balance in your life. There is no such thing as balance so stop chasing an elusive dream. Counter balance in my life is travel with my family. Our goal is two vacations a year with the intention to create lifelong memories. Our school district recently voted on a new calendar which provides students a week long fall break. Upon the news, we booked a trip to California to escape the unbearable Texas heat.
I am often asked about my trips. What we liked. What we didn't like. So to venture a little from business today, here is a post capturing a few of the moments on our trip. You can also click here to see my Google Reviews of the different places we traveled while on the trip. Enjoy.
We flew into Anaheim, California on a direct flight with United from Bush IAH. Leaving on a Saturday, we encountered no lines at tickets and through...

I am honored and excited to announce that Craig Covey, owner of Covey Insurance made the decision to hire me as his business coach. We've already had a couple of great conversations leading up to his decision, and I can't wait for our future conversations together. Craig shared with me several stories where he was able to have a big impact with his clients. I could feel the passion in his voice about how important it is for him to be there for his clients. Next Tuesday, the journey begins.
My name is Craig Covey and I have been an insurance agent since 2005. I was drawn to insurance by my want to help people. The options I had to help people were good ones, but this one I chose because I felt that I could help the most. I knew that I found what I love to do as we went through Hurricane Ike and then again last year with Hurricane Harvey.
I am about to celebrate 20 years of marriage with my wife and we have 2 great kids, Nick who is off to college...
18 days ago, I kicked off a challenge to business owners inside and outside my coaching organization to produce and post one video a day in the month of September. When I awoke this morning, over a cup of steaming, hot coffee, I was thinking about what topic would I cover today. My question was soon answered. Bouncing down the stairs was my 10 year old son, Logan, asking, "Daddy, are we going to flood?" Tropical Storm Imelda had made landfall around Freeport, Texas yesterday. For something that was forecasted to be a rain event within a one hour time period became a tropical storm, and then Tropical Storm Imelda. Not a dangerous wind event, the chances of flooding rain increased greatly. Why did my son ask that question? We have to go back a little over two years ago when Kingwood, Texas (my hometown) was devastated by the remnants of Hurricane Harvey.
Hurricane Harvey landed on the Texas Gulf Coast as a Cat 4 on August 25th, 2017. The storm tracked towards San Antonio, and then...
My family and I made the hour and a half journey from Kingwood, Texas to College Station on September 14th, 2019 to watch the Lamar Cardinals vs Texas A&M Aggies at Kyle Field. The final score was Aggies 62 and Lamar 3. The reason I post about my trip to the game on my business blog is that as a business owner, you need to make sure you're time blocking for time to be spent with friends, family, and for the pursuit of your passion and hobbies. Having a great business should not be at the expense of living a great life.
Slow down, time block, and enjoy the life you've been given. The benefits of slowing down to smell the roses is abundant. You clear your mind, your thoughts favor the creative, you rest your body, and much more. Don't try to find the time as time is elusive and finite. Schedule the time, and then honor the time you've been scheduled just as you would for your business.
Enjoy some videos and photos from our experience watching our Aggies #BTHOLamar
