Getting Your Time Back - Step 2

Yesterday, I shared the first step to getting your time back is scheduling your bedtime and wake up time. The next step to gain back control in your business and life is scheduling on your calendar the “rocks”. Rocks represent things in your schedule that can not move. Rocks are things you most likely won’t have control in scheduling, or once scheduled, rocks are not easily moved. The rocks are important and should be treated as such.

Here are examples of personal rocks in my life:

  • Vacations
  • Dr. Appointments (Yearly Physical)
  • Teeth Cleaning
  • Confirmation Sunday for my Son
  • Church

Note the above I either have no control in when they happen, or once set, they are difficult to move. Also all of the above are important.

Here are examples of business rocks in my life:

  • Coaching Appointment
  • Training Events
  • Live Webinar Training

Again, these are things I have no control on setting, or once set, the appointment is not easily moved. Lastly, they are all critical to my business.

Schedule Your Rocks in Advance

Scheduling your rocks can be done far in advance. My rocks are scheduled out for 12 months. Since these are the most important things that happen, it’s important to schedule them as not to leave yourself open for double booking or having to make a choice between what you know is important and what may seem important in the moment.

To recap this series on how you can get time back back in business and life:

  1. Schedule your bedtime and wake up time.
  2. Schedule your rocks.
