Get Off the Hamster Wheel by Taking Back Your Time: 1st Step is Sleep
Getting Your Time Back - Step 1
When I am hired as a coach, the challenge that comes up early in the coaching conversations is schedule. Most business owners feel like they are on the hamster wheel and can't get off.
My first question when this topic pops up is: What do you think goes first on your calendar?
Here are some of the anwers I get:
- lead generation
All the above are great answers, yet not the one I'm seeking to set the foundation for schedule.
What if I told you the first two things that go on your calendar are your bedtime and wake up time; in that order?
Establish a Bedtime and Wake Up Time
Life and work happens between those two events. Your body requires rest to function at an optimal level. When is the last time you pulled an all nighter (or a late night for us older folks), and how did you function the next day? You don't have to answer that question, as you and I know that answer.
Today, I want you to ask yourself, on average how many hours of sleep do you need to function at a high level the next day. Now that you know this number, which requires awareness and reflection, schedule your bedtime and then schedule the time you wake up. Build a habit around this, and you will get to a point where you don't even need an alarm clock to wake up.
Getting a grasp on your schedule starts with rest. If you are running on the hamster wheel, I invite you to a call with me to learn more about the power and results that can come from coaching. I'm here to help. Being a business owner, and having been in all aspects and levels of real estate sales, I have a unique perspective and understanding on how to help people have breakthroughs with their time management.
Have a great and productive day!
