The Grass is Always Greener Where You Water It

You've probably heard variations of this phrase.

"The grass is always greener on the other side."
"The grass isn't greener on the other side; it's just spray painted."
The grass isn't greener on the other side; there is just a septic tank below it."

Something that is more true to me everyday is "The grass is always greener where you water it". I see people everyday make moves between brokerages with the thought something is going to be different. More than likely, nothing will change. What would happen if we just watered the grass right where we are now? What if we formed the habits necessary to be successful right where we are now? What if we took action to secure new business right where we are now?

Folks, the grass doesn't change, you've changed (watered grass), or you've chosen not to change (unwatered brown, dying grass).

Take Action | Jeremy Williams Business Coach

I would like to share my thoughts on taking action both in your business and in life. You can hear my full thoughts on this topic by listening to the above video. Taking action, and more importantly the right action, in your business and life is the only way you will ever get results. I've now been coaching business owners since 2010, and what I've found taught and coached from other companies is that business owners should focus on the way they think and feel. As a business coach, there are a couple of things I disagree with this approach.

  1. Most people who call themselves coaches are not equipped through training and experience to deal with the thoughts and feelings of people. This is a proceed with caution area because in some cases a coach can do more harm than good. Coaches will often times wade into these areas not prepared, or saying they have experience to address particular issues that they have no business attempting.
