Whiskey & Politics Event Hosted by Dan Crenshaw in Houston, Texas

Dan Crenshaw Whiskey & Politics Guests Congressman Kevin Brady Vance Ginn PH.D. Red Hawk Coaching Real Estate Coach Jeremy Williams

My wife and I recently were invited to attend Dan Crenshaw's event Whiskey & Politics with special guests Congressman Kevin Brady and Vance Ginn, PH.D., Economist and representative of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, at The Wynden in Houston, Texas. Congressman Dan Crenshaw serves the 2nd District of Texas, and Congressman Kevin Brady serves the 8th District of Texas.

The evening was filled with great friends, food, and conversation on taxation and the current spending bill that is working to be rammed through the House and Senate.

During the evening, I put on my Small Business Coach hat, and I looked for lessons learned in attending the event. The greatest takeaway was the importance of networking. Whether you're a small business owner attending a political event or a Chamber of Commerce luncheon or a BNI meeting, networking is key.

What do I believe to be the best way to network? I believe it is best to network in a manner that you establish genuine relationships. Why genuine? Work to form genuine relationships otherwise others will smell you out for your intentions. How do you build a genuine relationship? You've got to come from contribution. Ask someone how you can help them with a specific challenge that they are facing?

You've got to have a follow up plan. Building genuine relationships takes both work and time because it is also about building trust. People do business with people they trust.

So while the food was good and the company was better, the Whiskey & Politics event hosted by Dan Crenshaw was a reminder to a business coach like me the importance of developing relationships through networking.

My daughter is a huge fan of Dan Crenshaw, and she was unable to attend the event. Dan was kind enough to send her this message.
