Don't Assume Friends to Do Business with You
I saw this today, and I am going to have to disagree. Just because you're a friend doesn't mean that you don't have to earn the business. I see people get upset all the time because a friend does not choose to work with them, yet their work ethic isn't to par.
Don't have the false sense that because you are friends with someone that they will choose to do business with you. You have to earn their business just like with someone you do not know. You may even have to work a little harder.
Put in the work, do the right things, and yes, your friends will work with you. Here are 3 steps to do more business with friends:
- They have to know you're in the business. Stop assuming they know what you do for a living.
- You have to ask for their business and/or referrals. If you don't ask, they will lean towards the thoughts that you don't take your business seriously, or you don't care about them.
- They must have evidence in actions at a minimum, and results will always win over.
Stop listening to what is not true.
BTW - If you're going to give me a jacked up haircut, and you're a friend, I will not get a haircut from you again.
Today is a new day. Get out there are start doing business with friends because you've done the right things to earn their business.
