Kingwood, Texas is a master-planned community by Friendswood Development in 1971 located in northeast Houston, Texas on the banks of the San Jacinto River and Lake Houston. Kingwood, Texas is known as the "Livable Forest".

The original land that would become Kingwood, Texas was owned by the Foster Lumber Company. In a joint venture between King Ranch and Friendswood Development, an Exxon subsidiary, the land was purchased in 1967. Kingwood features miles of greenbelts, shopping centers, a town center, schools (Humble Independent School District), churches, recreational facilities and parks, and boat ramp access to Lake Houston.

Kingwood, Texas is comprised of villages with Trailwood Village being the oldest village with it's first homes built in 1971.
