Mindset vs Reality

I shared in a Facebook Group that I moderate today, "Guarding your mindset doesn't mean you avoid addressing reality".

Merriam-Webster defines mindset as a mental attitude or inclination, and reality as the quality or state of being real.

Everything starts with mindset. Everything starts with the way you think based on your programming. Mindset can be the thing that makes someone wildly successful, and it can also be the very thing that sinks an individual. Books are written that your mindset should operate like a trap meaning you control everything that is allowed in and out. Mindset is an attitude; an inclination.

By the way, if you want to read a book on having a steel trap mindset, I highly recommend David Goggins's book 'Can't Hurt Me - Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds'.

I believe what is missed when mindset is the only thing considered is that sometimes this can lead to operating in a space outside of reality. In a world that has been infiltrated by the "It's All About You" and Positivity culture, this mindset can, and I've experienced, can separate you from reality. Now don't get me wrong, I believe optimism and hope are great things, and reality is awaiting at every corner. Not addressing reality no matter what your mindset will in no uncertain terms "bite you in the ass".

Example: You can paint your business as successful if you don't have leads. There is no way you can spin it because the reality is you have no leads. It's not harsh...it's reality.

Mindset is important. Mindset is what leads to feelings and feelings lead to actions and results. Make sure mindset is not at the expense of operating in reality.
