In an attempt to create better video content for the consumer, I have been doing some research on how to set up a rig for iPhone to capture quality video, and more importantly quality sound, on the go. There are so many business owners that realize the importance of video, yet they don't pay attention to the most important aspect of sound. Here are my recommendations for equipment, and I've provided links to Amazon if you would like to setup the exact rig for your iPhone. (Note: Setting up your Android may be slightly different.)

Equipment to Set Up a Rig for Your iPhone

  • Amazon Tripod - Purchase on Amazon
  • Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shock Mount - Purchase on Amazon
  • Square Jellyfish Jelly Grip Tripod Mount | 360 Degree Swivel Squeeze Grip Compatible with All iPhone 11 and Android (Mount Only) - Purchase on Amazon
  • Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter, 2 Pack 3.5 mm Connector Stereo Aux Headphone Adapter for iPhone 11/11 Pro/XS/XR/X 8 7 6/iPad, Support Music Control & Calling Function - Purchase on Amazon

The Jellyfish Jelly Grip Tripod Mount also provides you the capability of adding a light to your rig enhancing the quality of videos where you might be doing a close up.

The picture above is the adapters necessary to connect other components to the rig. For this setup, I needed an adapter to connect the Rode Microphone with the  Jellyfish Jelly Grip Tripod Mount.

I trust you find this to be a valuable resource to assist you with increasing the quality of your videos that are sent out to the consumer. Quality sound can make a big difference in whether or not someone watches your video. Don't lose potential viewers to horrible sound. Whether your streaming Live to Facebook, or your creating video content to be edited and distributed to online platforms, this setup will take your video game to the next level.
