A Note from Jeremy

Back in 2004, I launched my real estate sales business with Keller Williams Realty Northeast located in Kingwood, Texas. While I was not necessarily new to the area in which I would go on to serve, I knew that I needed to expand my network within the community. I had a mentor in the industry suggest joining the local chamber of commerce.

At the time, the local chamber of commerce was known as the Humble Area Chamber of Commerce. It has since been rebranded as the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. For the next several years while building a successful real estate business, I attribute much of my success to aligning myself with the local chamber.

The chamber provides an opportunity to help other like-minded business owners grow their businesses while in turn building lifelong relationships. As with many things in life, it can take a village to build something successful. I saw the chamber of commerce as my village. Working together with others with a common goal of building something successful, joining a chamber is one of the best decisions I could have made for my business.

“A rising tide lifts all boats” the quote often attributed to John F. Kennedy is a perfect representation of what I believe a chamber of commerce is designed to do for small business owners and the community. In other words, when everyone works together, the collective result is often greater than the individual.

What is a Chamber of Commerce?

A chamber of commerce, sometimes referred to as a board of trade, is one of the oldest established business networks. A local organization of businesses large and small to promote the interests of business owners.Generally a localized group representing a community, city, or a region work together and advocate for business owners. The chamber of commerce is usually headed by a President, CEO, Executive and often supported with a staff.

The First Known Chamber of Commerce

The first known Chamber of Commerce was established in 1599 in Marsielle, France; “Chambre de Commerce''. It was approximately 65 years later that another official chamber was formed in Bruges; at that time the Spanish Netherlands. The Hallifax Chamber of Commerce founded in 1750 is the oldest chamber of commerce in North America.

How Does a Chamber of Commerce Operate

Chambers can be organized to represent a community, city, region, state, or nationwide; United States Chamber of Commerce. The chambers work to bring business owners together developing strong local networks and can result in business-to-business exchange. Chambers also work with local government officials, the city council, and/or local representatives to promote pro-business initiatives.

Some of the oldest chambers of commerce in the United States include The Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the Boston Chamber of Commerce in 1773. It was the Boston Chamber of Commerce that organized The Boston Tea Party; a tax protest.

Red Hawk Coaching Joins the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber

Business Coach Jeremy Williams, Owner of Red Hawk Coaching and BestSelling Author of Survive Scale Soar: The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Building the Life and Business You Deserve, recently joined the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, know as the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber, located at The Atrium in New Caney, Texas.

Jeremy has been coaching up small business owners since 2010. In 2010, Jeremy left the sales side of the real estate industry and moved into a leadership and development role for one of the largest real estate brokerages in Houston, Texas; Keller Williams Realty Houston Memorial. It was in this opportunity that Jeremy was introduced and professionally trained as a business coach. Jeremy would go on to serve as a coach for some of the top Keller Williams offices in the country including Keller Williams The Woodlands and Magnolia and Keller Williams Northeast in Kingwood, Texas (coming back full circle to where his real estate career began).

In 2017, Jeremy left Keller Williams and launched Red Hawk Coaching. While initially the coaching focused on real estate sales agents, the business grew into working with industry partners and beyond. Offering one-on-one coaching customized to the small business owner, Jeremy has set apart his coaching company from many others that “coach from the box”.

What is coaching from the box? Large coaching companies will identify successful clients in their program, identify a pattern that has worked for these successful clients, and then package it into coaching or training that is dispersed to the masses. Having coached 100’s of small businesses over the years, Jeremy found individuals that were coached by these programs often had lackluster results and sometimes led them down paths that did not serve them well. Also, coaching in this way, coaches often are focused only on business ignoring the complexity of life.

Using powerful coaching models and techniques, Jeremy treats each client as the unique individual they are to emphasize strengths and remove limiting beliefs that may prevent a business owner from achieving their potential. Jeremy understands the complexity of the counterbalance of both life and work and coaches accordingly. Most importantly, Jeremy helps his clients get the results they desire in their business and beyond.

While Red Hawk Coaching provides coaching services to clients across Texas and beyond, Jeremy has a vested interest in the success of business owners in the community in which he lives, shops and plays. WIth the expansion of services and a vested interest in his community, joining the Greater East Montgomery Chamber of Commerce only seemed like the right business decision.

What Areas are Served by the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce

The Greater EMC Chamber of Commerce acts as a regional chamber. Established in an area often referred to as “East County”, the region stretches north of “The Big Airport”; Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). The region consists of 8 distinctive communities including:

  • Porter
  • New Caney
    Splendora
  • Roman Forest
  • Woodbranch Village
  • Patton Village
  • Grangerland
  • Kingwood (a portion along and near North Park Drive)

Most of the area in the area supported by the Greater EMC Chamber of Commerce is unincorporated, a significant portion also includes the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston. The remaining portion of the area served by the chamber in regards to permits and ordinances fall under the jurisdiction of Montgomery County with the exception of four incorporated cities: Patton Village, Roman Forest, Splendora and Woodbranch Village.

Over the last 10 years, the area has seen significant growth and this trend is expected to continue. There has been a 120% growth in the population of Porter in the last 15 years, 37% for New Caney, and 18% for Splendora. Three regional lakes provide recreation including: Lake Conroe, Lake Livingston, and Lake Houston.

New Caney is approximately 30 minutes from downtown Houston and the home of the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamo, Houston Texans, the annual Houston Rodeo, fine dining and more; only 90 minutes from the beaches of Galveston Island.

Since graduating from Texas A&M University and marrying the love of his life, Laurie, Jeremy has resided in the Houston area. After living in Summerwood in Northeast Houston for these first few years of our marriage, we made the decision to move to Kingwood.

While my real estate sales business and leadership opportunities extended across the Greater Houston, Texas area, my homebase was Northeast Houston, Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Porter, and New Caney. My wife works for Insperity located in Montgomery County, and my children are in the Humble Independent School District; an eight grader and a Junior.

Red Hawk Coaching launched in 2017 after seven years of training and delivering coaching services to hundreds of small business owners. Having booked over 10,000 hours of one-on-one coaching sessions with small business owners, Jeremy has had an impact on many. Red Hawk Coaching has helped small business owners both in business and life across the state of Texas and beyond. In looking at the growth goals for the business for 2022 and beyond, Jeremy realized his vested interest in helping support local businesses with coaching, and besides, it is where he lives, works, and plays. Joining the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce only seemed like a natural fit.

Jeremy reached out to a friend, and now, President & CEO of the Greater EMC Chamber of Commerce, Mark Linabury. The relationship went back to Mark’s days as a professional DJ that was hired for real estate brokerage events. Jeremy and Mark’s paths crossed over the years through a variety of chambers and networking groups. Joining as a Gold Member, Business Coach Jeremy Williams will be recognized as a new member at the upcoming Greater East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce luncheon scheduled for August 3rd at The Atrium in New Caney, Texas.
