The Same and Different | Embracing Change

Our kids were off for Fall Break this week so we spent some time up at Lake Conroe, and on Tuesday we made a trip out to Aggieland. Wanting to give our children the Aggieland experience, we took them to the famous Dixie Chicken on Northgate for lunch. When I stepped through the doors nothing in the Dixie Chicken had changed. We were greeted with the same hospitality I could remember as a student. We sat at the wood tables etched with carvings from the many that had passed through over the years. The live rattlesnake was still on display, which my kids asked if it was real, and yes, it is real. Nothing had changed, or has it....

I am not the same person that walked through those doors 20 years ago. I've grown. I've become the person I need to be in order to achieve what I want to achieve (and it is still a work in progress). I have a family. I am a businessman. I've had many successes over the years, and I have had a few stumbles; I refer to them as growth opportunities.

I've worked for egotistical #$%hats, and I've worked with people that have gone out of their way to pour into me. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. 3 years ago I challenged myself and launched a coaching business, and I was told by many I would fail. The old me upon those words would have reverted back to average, yet the new me reminded myself all things are possible as spoken in God's Word. Matthew 19:23-30 BTW - I am Blessed having the opportunity of helping many business owners.

So in the Dixie Chicken I sat eating the same hamburger and Tijuana fries I did 20 years ago in an environment that had not changed, yet as a person I have changed, and I continue to embrace growth and change. Don't be afraid of change. Great things await on the other side of that sometimes not so easy change.

Now a commitment today to my Peloton to work off those Tijuana fries.
