Are You Seeking Affirmation for What You're Doing as a Business Owner?

It's funny how God uses things most unexpectedly to affirm you.

Earlier today, I was on the phone with a prospective client out of Corpus Christi, Texas. We had an amazing conversation about her business and what she was looking to accomplish. At the end of the conversation she shared how she had listened to several episodes on my podcast and felt she knew who I was as a person, and second, she shared why she was interested in coaching with me.

First, hearing that she had listened to the podcast, this was my first feedback in 30 episodes in respect to someone making a decision whether or not to hire me. That's 30 episodes with the average episode taking 2 - 2.5 hours of editing, marketing, etc. It reaffirmed staying the course even when you don't experience results right away.

Second, she mentioned how she liked my style and that I had this sense of calm in my voice, yet I was confident and not condescending in my tone. Here is where God hit me between the eyes.

For years in my previous professional life, I was told I needed to bring more energy, that people were attracted to high energy, and for not being that, I know it closed some doors (It closed doors God did not want me to step through.)

What this conversation instilled in me this very day is that people choose to hire me as their coach because I am the calm. As a coach, I get into a lot of conversations daily where I am going out into the storm to meet my people and take them to shelter. If I were not calm, or low energy as those that I allowed to speak into my life said of me, I would not be able to help them solve their problem. Storms can't help storms. What is a coach? Someone that can help people think in a way to solve their problems with the least amount of friction.

God confirmed, "Jeremy, I made you this way because my plans for you are greater than you know. You may not understand, and you will someday."

Today, I understand, and thank you God for that call from someone I had no connection to other than my podcast to answer a question I've had for years, and for providing reassurance that my purpose is to be the calm in the storms others face.

Whether or not this person decides to coach with me, a powerful lesson I took from our time together today.
