A Lesson from the United States Marine Corps Silent Platoon
Have you ever seen something executed in such percision that you know a significant amount of practice went into the feat? I had that experience yesterday watching the Houston Texans take on the New York Jets at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The theme for the day was recognition of those that serve or have served in our Armed Forces. At half-time, I witnessed one of the most magnificant things I've ever seen; the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.
How much practice went into this routine? I can only imagine countless hours. I can imagine many mistakes being made behind the scenes; maybe a drop of a gun or a mistep in the formation. I can imagine tough correction by a superior and celebration when things are done with flawless percision. I can imagine support for one another, and that it is rebuked when one says something badly about another. There is a unity that can not be broken.
My wife and I got to see the finished product. There were no mistakes; at least in our eyes. Countless hours of practice and discipline all for a few moments of perfection. How does this relate to you as a business owner?
Do you not practice your scripts before making a call or presentation? Do you not work on the craft of negotiating to develop tactics and strategies to support your client when the time arrives? Do others not see all the work that got you to where you are today; that unseen work that happens when no one else is watching?

Put in the work and amazing things will happen. Put in the work even when it is not seen or appreciated by others. The effort will at some point be celebrated.
