This last week our family spent a day in Galveston. Our goal as parents is to have a monthly family fun day. This is usually around an experience to create memories. Creating memories is not only important in life; it is important to create memories in business.

How do you create memories in business?

  1. Focus on building relationships. No matter what business you run, you are in the business of creating relationships. Relationships create trust. Trust creates loyal customers and clients. Relationships matter. How are you focused on building relationships in your business?
  2. Market to stay memorable. There is so much noise today created by social media, blogs, websites, media, etc. What are you doing to cut through the noise? Are you telling your story? Stories matter, and you don't want others to tell your story for you. Have you thought about using video? Are you supplying a monthly newsletter packed with value? How many people could you reach with a podcast? Consistency is important when you implement your marketing plan. Consistency wins and cuts through the noise. Is your marketing memorable?
  3. Be present and accessible. How does being present make your business memorable? When you are present in your business with customers and clients, you are setting the tone that they matter. When customers and clients feel this way, you are memorable. They are more likely to refer you because they realize that you value you them. Be accessible. This does not mean being accessible 24-7. Set expectations with customers and clients on your follow up procedures, how you communicate, and how they like to be communicated with through a transaction and beyond. If you say you're going to follow up, follow up! Be present and accessible.

There are many other strategies to become memorable with your customers and clients, yet these jumped to mind this morning as I was combing through my notes with clients over the course of 2019. I trust this helps you in 2020. Go create a business that is memorable. Standout from the crowd. Cut through the noise. Be memorable.

If you're in Galveston, Texas with your family or friends, and you're looking to create life memories, make a stop by La King's located on the strand. Grab some 'Purity' ice cream (the first ice cream manufacturer in Texas - 1889) or some hand spun Salt Water Taffy.

Work to create memories in both business and life.
